FAR/AIM Shoot me now.. Who wrote this stuff!!

Ok.. today's topics were aircraft weight & balance, performance, and Federal Aviation regulations (FAR).  Who writes this stuff, a lawyer?  Damn, could it be anymore drier and boring.  Thankfully, my brother-in-law a professional pilot saved the day by giving me a copy Everything Explained for the Professional Pilot. Last Christmas. Without this book, the FAR section would have been SOOOOOO painful to read and learn.

The weight and balance stuff was boring, being a professional Loadmaster (yes I make my living as a Loadmaster). I'd never say I know everything (just in-case Mr. FAA inspector is reading this). But the basic loading of a Piper Cherokee is a little simpler then a 737-700NG.

The aircraft performance section was great and informative, but could they make those graphs any harder to interpret?  Well enough for now, back to studying.

Ahhh.. when can I go flying!!

Well another day goes by sitting in the chair studying. But I feel I'm learning. Today's topics covered weather and flight operations.  I spent a great deal of time with the weather because of the extreme importance. Over my years of flying with the Navy I've seen some really horrible storms.  Its funny to talk about but it sucks when a static ball builds up and goes flying through the plane.

Well I'm back at the studying.. a little timeout for life and family, spent the 9 & 10th taking care of some items from my grandmothers estate, and hanging with the family.

Yesterday I flew with the Naval Reserves working as a Loadmaster, nothing special just a couple quick trips from NAS Lemoore and NAS Fallon.    But I have to pay the bills some how!

So today I continued working on the Kings course,  covering airspace, weather, radio navigation, communication and radar services. None of these topics are very exciting but they are very useful.
