Test Day

It was weird, I wasn't nervous all day, just keep studying and taking practice tests.  3:30 came and I headed off to the testing office.  I found the ATP instructors open and very friendly.  I soon sat down and worked their practice test problems. After a hour and half I was ready.

6pm came and I sat down with the ATP instructor to check out my test. The tests are administered by ATP, by the system is run and managed by CATS testing.  Their process is amazingly detailed.  I've seen less procedures to check out classified material!  I'm telling you, no one is going to accidentally get the test book or answers.

I sat down and started the test, soon I found myself dealing with the crazy graphs that leave much to the imagination for accuracy. Who knows how much is lost with the copying.  Oh, well I tell myself to relax, it's not a big deal if I miss a couple just focus on the test. I skip the math problems and go straight to the meat of the test.

Soon I'm back at the math problems and finish those.  I double checked my answers,  counted the problems I thought I'd miss.  I came up with six due to printing error or just not having a clue about the correct answer.  Sweet, fifty four times one hundred divided by 60 equals .. 90 percent!   I hold my breath and hit the enter button for the grade...    92% SWEET I passed.  I wanted 100% but its over and I'm moving on to the next phase.   Time for a Beer!

STOP the pain!! I can't take it any more

Ok, I spent the entire day again studying, and taking practice tests. By mid afternoon, I had enough and decided I'd take the test tomorrow if I could get a test.   I was in luck when I called ATP, they had a opening for a FAA Private Pilot written tomorrow at 6pm. I'm there!
They offered a 2hr prep course before the test, and I figured it was free so why turn it down.

Ah.. the tests

I spent the entire day taking FAA practice tests, doing great on some and not so on others. The not so great ones made me worry a little. So I kept at it.  I supplement the Kings prep course with my Glem Private Pilot and Recreational Pilot FAA Knowledge Test: For the FAA Computer-based Pilot Knowledge Test.

Nothing too exciting today, but I'm shooting to take the FAA written this Thursday so I can travel Friday to Solvang for Easter with the parents, sister, brother in-law and nephews.

Last Section and the Test Prep

Today I finished the last section of the Kings Flight School FAA prep course.  The subject was cross country planning, I saved it to last figuring it ties all the subjects together.  I must say it is fun thinking about all the places I could fly by myself to visit friends and family.  Once I finish the cross country section, I started the test prep, not too exciting but a necessary evil.

Where will I go on my first flight as a rated Private Pilot?

Military Duty...

The studies were interrupted by my military duties on the 15-17.  The 15th was spent studying and doing paperwork for my navy duties, the 16 & 17th were spent on Drill Weekend.  They are required, but a never fun, do this, sign this, get off this list, where is this person, Oh wash the plane.  ah.. I need a beer!
